BIG LAKE FASTPITCH ASSOCIATION

Coaching for Big Lake Fastpitch

Coaching Philosophy

  1. Player Development: Our coaching staff is committed to helping each player develop their skills and reach their full potential, regardless of their ability level. We prioritize position-specific drills to ensure each player gets the attention they need.

  2. Positive Reinforcement: We believe in using positive reinforcement to encourage and motivate our players. We celebrate their successes and help them learn from their mistakes in a supportive and constructive way.

  3. Teamwork and Sportsmanship: We emphasize the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship on and off the field. We encourage our players to support and respect their teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials.

  4. Competitive Drive: We instill a competitive drive in our players while also prioritizing fun and enjoyment of the game. We believe in setting goals and working hard to achieve them, but also in enjoying the process and the camaraderie of being part of a team.

  5. Communication: We value open and honest communication between players, coaches, and parents. We strive to establish clear channels of communication and ensure that everyone is on the same page.

  6. Character Development: We believe that softball can be a vehicle for character development, and we aim to instill values such as perseverance, accountability, responsibility, and resilience in our players.

  7. Lifelong Learning: We believe that learning is a lifelong pursuit, and we encourage our players to continue developing their skills and knowledge of the game beyond their time with our association.

Overall, our coaching philosophy is centered around helping our players develop into confident, skilled, and resilient individuals both on and off the field, while also fostering a love and appreciation for the game of softball.

Coaching Requirements

All coaches in our association are required to submit an application and a background check in order to coach. They will also need to pass a concussion training every 3 years and a yearly SafeSport training.

BLFPA will strive to give every option possible to our coaches to better themselves. If you attend coaches clinics, we will reimburse.

As requested, we have a live practice schedule. This will be updated as practices change. With teams playing a more consistent schedule, fields shouldn't be and issue moving forward
